2011 Rose Parade float viewing

This was one of the best things we have ever done!!  So we drove up to Pasadena this last Sunday, the day after the Rose Parade to view the floats.  There was a 70% chance of rain so I was leery about making the 1hr 45 min drive and maybe get rained out.  We did it anyways, what an opportunity to see these works of art up close!!  I did have a back up plan just in case, the Glendale Galleria was not far away so just in case it was raining we had an indoor plan.

I am not to familiar with Pasadena but I knew if I could get on Colorado Blvd (parade route)  I could find the parking areas.  We parked at Pasadena City College, there was a shuttle bus that took all right to where the floats were.

The floats were awesome!!  It was so neat to be within 3-5 feet of the floats.  You could at times smell the roses, there was a breeze from the weather which kept the scent from sticking around.  We took 260 pictures, those will provide plenty of memories!!  There was light rain at times but we were bundled up and umbrella ready.  It took about 2hrs to view all the floats, by then we were tired from all the walking.

I think next year we will do it again because watching the parade on TV does not do the beauty justice.  Lorri even wants to volunteer to work on the floats and to be part of the artwork.

Special note...on the way home I said to Lorri, "you know after almost 18 years of marriage we still found a first thing to do together"   Awwww!!
